![]() Not only are you always challenged to blast enemies away before they manage to hurt you and deplete your life bar, but you have to recognize whether that enemy is a Silhouette or a Mirage type. Many things.Īs a whole, this original 2D title is full of substance, from its almost goofy art-style, to blending of genres like Platforming, Shoot em Up, and a lick of RPG. Not only are they incredibly skilled as a group in general, but TREASURE was founded by former members of KONAMI, and they all worked on some of their biggest arcade and console hits prior to parting ways with the company to start new project of their own.Īs a relatively small group, compared to many studios today, TREASURE focuses on Gameplay FIRST, and each game feels exactly the way it should feel, from the controls, to how deeply you can manipulate your character to react to any situation, you are always given enough options to deal with anything their games will throw at you. Since 1992, these guys have come up with Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier, Guardian Heroes, Radiant Silvergun, Ikaruga, Sin & Punishment 1(JP only N64 release) & 2(US/JP Wii release), Gradius V (5), Silpheed the Lost Planet, Stretch-Panic, Bangai-O, as well as several other Licensed games with franchises such as Tiny Toons, Astro Boy, McDonald's, and anime/manga series such as Yu-Yu-Hakusho, Hajime No Ippo, Bleach, and Dragon Drive! I just recently picked this game up here on ebay, not only because I fell in love with the gameplay the very first time I saw it in motion, but because it was developed by TREASURE. This game is really "out there", it's something fresh, and exciting! Because Shyna Nera Shyna's quest to find the Edo system will be a difficult one, only the most reflex-savvy need apply to Silhouette Mirage! There's even a move that switches which side each attribute is on.Īs an added bonus, Working Designs has included a movie of Lunar 2: Eternal Blue. Shyna also has a wide array of moves at her disposal ranging from the aforementioned throws and the aptly named Cash Bash to dashes, slides, reflects, and the screen-clearing Parasite Bomb. Weapons are more expensive and (the most gameplay affecting) Shyna's shots are now limited by Spirit Energy, which can only be replenished by shooting enemies of the same attribute (as opposed to damaging them with the opposite attribute). Of course, they've added a few things over the original Saturn and PlayStation versions released in Japan, most of which go toward upping the difficulty. Working Designs handled translation and localization of Silhouette Mirage. There are also multiple weapons the protagonist can purchase, and in order to get the money for them she literally has to beat the cash out her foes. This mixes some strategy into the action as you have to jump over enemies or throw them around you. Which type of shot you shoot is dependent upon which side of Shyna is facing the screen. However, the only way to kill a Mirage is by shooting it with Silhouette energy and vise versa. As Shyna Nera Shyna, you must shoot yourself through a countless stream of Silhouettes, Mirages, huge bosses, and quirky characters in the quest to find and fix the Edo computer system. Silhouette Mirage is a combination platform/shooting game from the design geniuses at Treasure, the same people responsible for such classics as Radiant Silvergun, Gunstar Heroes, and Bangai-O. When she finally awoke from her suspension, parts of her memory were erased, including some of her special combat skills and, more importantly, the location of the Edo system. Of course, things aren't as simple as waking Shyna up from a long nap. Shyna is one of the few living creatures that holds attributes of both the Silhouette and the Mirage. Through this disaster, the protagonist and Messenger of Justice, Shyna Nera Shyna, remained dormant. Megido had a violent nature that made him powerful and inspired his people to become a force to be reckoned with. Hal was a military genius and focused on building up his empire, employing Guardian Angels to his defense from anything that even threatened to scathe him. Hal led the Mirages while Megido ruled the Silhouettes with both showing leadership qualities and ambitions. ![]() ![]() In order to control the chaos, two men rose up to lead the two classes. Violent outbreaks fueled by racism for one another started in nearly every town after the mutations. The people of the world were separated into two classes after their mutation: the Silhouettes and the Mirages. It started a molecular change in the attributes of all living cells, mutating all inhabitants of the world.
